We looked at what was in the stars’ closet this festive season to help you plan your Navaratri wardrobe.

Navaratri has stared with Melbournians being given some reprieve from the lockdown. It was truly in the stars that the festival brought some good news! While the celebrations maybe pared-down this year, your wardrobe need not be. In fact, a sartorial pick-me-up is perhaps just the remedy to add some excitement to festivities in 2020. Being holed up at home over the past 6 months, we have gotten used to our comfy pyjamas, but it is time to break open those wardrobes, dust off those shoes and get motivated and dress up. Not sure what to wear? Our Bollywood stars are always here to inspire and lead the way when it comes to fashion. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra and more celebrities serve up some serious Navratri dressing inspiration.

Floor length Indo western kurti dress

Ananya Panday brings her A-game with this lime green sharara set, which can be recycled with a crop top and statement jewellery for an intimate wedding function. Another fuss free look is Athiya Shetty’s light weight Anita Dongre lehenga that is easy to wear and move around in. You can never go wrong with a beautiful kurta set that is aptly accessorised, just like my favourite actor Karisma Kapoor decided to wear. Kurta’s are roomy, palazzos are comfortable and not too far from the pyjamas that we have been so used to. Dress it up by wearing classic jewellery for more formal occasions or dress it down by accessorising with beautiful earrings.

Lawn Suit, Salwar Suit, Punjabi Suit

The Kapoor sisters like to keep it simple yet elegant when it comes to family gatherings. Kareena Kapoor opts for a subtle mint green Silk Kurta set to let her inner diva shine. This season it is all about pastel colours. These colours can be dressed up with statement silver jewellery and your hair in a flower-clad bun.

If traditional wear is what you are after, say yes to sarees this season. Like us at Arya’s boutique, Bollywood stars are loving the various drapes available and opting for more customary designs like Deepika Padukone who can been seen here in a beautiful Banarasi saree. Bring out that wedding/ heirloom jewellery to add a touch of class to this evergreen style. If being more on the muted side is your style, you can go down the path Sonam Kapoor Ahuja opted for in a simple yet modern take on the saree, with a jacket, it is sure to make a statement.

If you are feeling bold and beautiful, why not try bright and striking colours like Alia Bhatt who chose to wear a multi-coloured sequinned Sabyasachi saree? Or let the outfit steal the spotlight with a heavy drape like Malaika Arora in a Tarun Tahiliani lehenga. Add glamour to the celebrations and make sure you dress up no matter what this Navaratri.
